Pathways to Law Plus Conference April 2019

Last week, 60 first-year university students travelled across the country to attend the Pathways to Law Plus Conference. This three-day residential marked the start of the 2019 programme, which aims to give legal insight and experience to students interested in a career in law.

Each day, students were hosted by one of our partner law firms: Hogan Lovells, DLA Piper, and Linklaters. The firms put on networking lunches and panel discussions to give students exposure to life in the legal sector, while RARE Recruitment ran sessions to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed for a career in law. Starting with advice on placement applications, commercial awareness, and confidence-building, these sessions culminated with students presenting a mock pitch for a law firm.

In additionThe Inner Temple and Wilberforce Chambers hosted an evening networking event which gave students insight into a career at the Bar and opportunity to speak to legal professionals from across the sector.

We were delighted that three of our Alumni Leadership Board members – Natasha Holcroft-Emmess, Josias Senu, and Gemma Collins – could join us to share their stories and introduce students to the alumni community they’ll soon be part of.

In the next phase of Pathways to Law Plus, students will have the opportunity to apply for work experience at one of the partner law firms and will receive mentoring from a legal professional. We are very grateful to our partner law firms, RARE Recruitment, the Inner Temple and Wilberforce Chambers for making this conference possible, and we wish the students all the best for the next phase of the programme.
