Pathways Plus is a programme that looks to inspire and support undergraduate Law students to explore a range of careers in the legal profession. During the programme students build the essential knowledge and skills that are required to be successful in their careers. This is achieved through work experience placements, mentoring and networking with industry professionals.

The programme was established in 2013 by the Sutton Trust in partnership with three leading law firms DLA Piper, Hogan Lovells and Linklaters. The programme is also supported by BT, Barclays, the Inner Temple, Wilberforce and Fountain Chambers without whom the programme would not be possible.

Pathways Plus was developed to widen access to the legal profession, as research by the Sutton Trust had shown that the top echelons of the professions were drawn from a narrow range of social backgrounds. The programme aims to raise student’s aspirations and allow them to make informed decision about their future career.

The Trust have teamed up with 3 top Law Firms to delivery the programme

I am more likely to consider a career in law because I never saw myself as a lawyer or barrister. But after meeting the people and speaking to them, I can relate to them and this career seems more accessible and I now know what I need to do to access this career.

Pathways to Law Student

have always wanted to pursue law but after the residential I am now more likely to apply to firms in London just because I have enjoyed visiting the offices and meeting the people who work there and engaging with them, and realising just how friendly every one is even in a large commercial firm in the city.
