Assisted place holders have enduring social networks and better jobs

Beneficiaries of the assisted places scheme, which provided a means-tested education at independent schools for young people from less advantaged homes until 1997, continue to reap the benefits from their private education, according to a new study for the Sutton Trust.

Milburn report “a wake-up call” on social mobility

Sir Peter Lampl, chairman of the Sutton Trust and of the Education Endowment Foundation said that today’s report by the social mobility commissioner Alan Milburn provided a wake-up call to politicians and policymakers on the dangers of social mobility reversing again.
