The Daily Mail featured new research from the Sutton Trust which examined the backgrounds of the new Cabinet.

David Cameron today sought to shed his image for surrounding himself with his privately-educated friends as he increased the number of women and state-educated ministers at the Cabinet table.

After hailing his ‘sweet’ election success after a meeting of all of his new Conservative MPs, the Prime Minister set about reshuffling his Cabinet and filling slots left by the ousted Lib Dems.

The Sutton Trust reported that the proportion of Cabinet ministers who went to a comprehensive school had more than doubled since 2010, from 21 per cent to 43 per cent.
