SUTTON TRUST WELCOMES HIGHER EDUCATION CONSULTATION

The Department for Education has published a consultation on the proposed new regulatory framework for higher education. This includes plans for the new Office for Students, which will replace the Office for Fair Access (OFFA).

Commenting on the plans, Sir Peter Lampl, Founder and Chairman of the Sutton Trust, said:

“It is good to see the focus on social mobility in the Government’s plans for the higher education regulatory framework. The new Office for Students is an important part of realising this. In the plans set out today, they have the potential to increase participation and widen access at our universities. It will be vital that they retain the same independence as OFFA, so that they are able to hold universities to account.”
