Commenting on the new access agreements published by the Office for Fair Access today, Sir Peter Lampl, chairman of the Sutton Trust said:

“I welcome the £750m a year now being spent by universities on access, outreach and financial support. With the recent announcement that maintenance grants are to go, this work could become increasingly important if we are to see an improvement in the numbers of less advantaged young people going to university. However, it is vital that we do more to evaluate how this money can be most effectively spent and ensure that enough is invested in reaching young people at school or college when they are making vital decisions about their futures.”
