Experts hope the plan to have “inner and outer catchments” will help reduce the “selection by house price” problem highlighted by Theresa May.
It follows research showing a pupil attending a private prep school is ten times more likely to get into a grammar school than a child who gets free school meals.
In a report published ahead of the Tory manifesto, the educational charity has laid out a series of steps to make grammar school admissions fairer.
