The Daily Mail online  covered the Sutton Trust report on Internships.

The cost of taking up unpaid internships shuts off desirable workplaces to poorer graduates and inhibits social mobility – particularly in London, according to new research.

A six-month unpaid internship will cost a single person living in London a total of about £5,556 (or £926 a month), according to a study by the Sutton Trust, and the latest higher education data reveals 31 per cent of university graduates working as interns are doing so for no pay.

The trust recommends that all interns should be paid at least the minimum wage to open up professions to people from a wider variety of backgrounds.
