This week, the US government announced that they would suspend international students’ visas if their classes are being taught online next term. The Sutton Trust is deeply disappointed by this decision and believes it to be unfair and unnecessary.

Our US Programme has supported over one thousand students to secure places at colleges across the US, many of whom are currently studying there. In an extraordinarily difficult year, this announcement has added an unnecessary burden of worry and uncertainty.

Together with the US-UK Fulbright Commission, we are doing everything in our power to support our young people and we are urgently pressing our case with the US Embassy. Many universities are working to challenge the regulations and we are fully behind these efforts.

To our alums in the US, we encourage you to seek support and advice from your universities and from the US-UK Fulbright Commission. You can get in touch at [email protected]
