David Cameron and Nick Clegg’s ­decision to hike university fees will give taxpayers a £20billion-a-year bill because graduates cannot afford to pay back their huge loans.

A study last year by the Institute for Fiscal Studies for education charity the Sutton Trust revealed youngsters were leaving university with an average debt of £44,000 – almost double that of graduates who left before the £9,000 fees came in.
