Sir Peter Lampl is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Louise Richardson to the Sutton Trust’s Board of Trustees.

Professor Richardson has been the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford since 2016. Before that she served as the Principal and Vice Chancellor of the University of St Andrews, and as the executive dean of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University.

Earlier this year – and under Richardson’s leadership – Oxford University announced plans to boost the intake of UK undergraduate students coming from the most under-represented backgrounds to one in four by 2023, when two new initiatives are due to be fully operational.

For more than two decades, the Sutton Trust has campaigned for fairer access to leading universities. In that time they have also provided direct support to over 30,000 young people through their flagship UK Summer Schools programme.

Sir Peter Lampl, founder and chairman of the Sutton Trust, said:

“I’m delighted that Louise has agreed to become a trustee of the Sutton Trust.  It goes without saying that Louise is an outstanding addition to the board.  She has a tremendous commitment to social mobility and we are honoured that she is joining us.”

Professor Louise Richardson added:

“I am delighted to have been invited to join the board of the Sutton Trust. I share the Trust’s commitment to addressing the challenge of social mobility and for years have admired their creative programming, uncompromising research and commitment to evidence-based policy making.”
