Today the Sutton Trust announces its Alumni Leadership Board, a group of exceptional alumni with whom the Trust will work in partnership to further develop the alumni programme.

The Sutton Trust has been supporting young people for twenty years and has an outstanding community of alumni. Their achievements span industries and countries, with many of our alumni championing the cause of social mobility along the way. Until now, the Trust has not had a formal mechanism to capitalise upon the rich experiences and expertise within its alumni community.

The Alumni Leadership Board will work closely with the Sutton Trust to develop ways in which the Trust can continue to support its alumni body after students complete their programme. Sutton Trust programmes are designed to help young people make informed decisions about their next steps, and the Sutton Trust alumni community continues this support into the workplace and beyond.

“I’m excited to support the work of the Sutton Trust alumni community, alongside supporting the foundation’s broader work in improving social mobility in the UK.” Pooja Kumari (UK Summer School 1999), Senior Policy Officer, NSPCC

“I’m looking forward to building on the Trust’s brilliant existing work to develop new ways of ensuring fair access to the professions and other high impact career paths.” Joel Mullan (UK Summer School 2005), Education Advisor, Greater London Authority

The combined knowledge, expertise and personal experiences of the Alumni Leadership Board will greatly aid the development of ways to support the vibrant alumni community. Each board member has their own inspiring story and reason to give back, and one of the board’s aims is to develop each of these individuals as part of a group of social mobility leaders.

“There are so many brilliant people in the Sutton Trust network, and I’m excited to help build the alumni community as a place where both professional and personal relationships can flourish.” Jouja Maamri (US Programme 2013), Masters student, University of Oxford

“I’m excited about working with others to come up with exciting and innovative ideas in trying to utilise one of the most valuable resource the Trust has, its past alumni, to make headway and improve the experience of the future participants, with a common hope of increasing social mobility.” Matt Maciejewski (Pathways to Law 2014), Law graduate, London School of Economics

“I think that providing more opportunities for alumni to stay engaged in the work of the Sutton Trust will only help further continue the Trust’s mission by increasing and strengthening the resources and opportunities which future students have access to.” Gemma Collins (US Programme 2013), Events Executive, Bright Network
