Teachers are ruining children’s’ chances of getting to Oxbridge by giving them poor feedback, new research shows.

A new study by the Sutton Trust studied the personal statements of 44 students from state schools. Out of these, 27 received help from teachers with writing a statement, which was then used by admissions tutors to decide which candidates deserved a place at their institutions. The remaining 17 were used as a control group
