You will have access to OSCAR, an online personal statement builder, which is backed by research from Russell Group universities. This tool will help you break your ideas down into clear sections so you have an easy to read personal statement.

Expert mentor

Expert mentor

You will receive an expert online mentor who is experienced in your chosen subject. They know the application system inside and out and are on hand to provide advice on any aspect of your personal statement.

Who can apply

We do not accept applications for Academic Apprenticeships. Students who are unsuccessful in gaining a place on our UK Summer School programme are selected to take part. This selection is based on the same criteria as our UK Summer School programme. The more criteria you meet, the more likely you are to get a place on the programme.

Programme Impact

We undertook an evaluation of Academic Apprenticeship where we compared outcomes for students on the programme and for a control group of similar students. We found:

The proportion of students on the programme who received an offer from a Russell Group university.

The proportion of students in the control group who received an offer from a Russell Group university.

What people say

"The mentoring programme was a brilliant experience and opportunity…my mentor was always there when I needed her support. I believe that every student writing their statement should have access to OSCAR."

Zuliat, Robert Clack School, Dagenham

"I wanted to make a competitive application for medicine and was able to do so from the help I received…I know I did much better than if it had just been myself and sixth form working on it."

Sulayman, Luton Sixth Form College, Luton
