Careers Guidance

The Education Secretary, the Rt Hon Nicky Morgan MP, has announced the formation of a new ‘careers and enterprise company‘ to help employers, schools and colleges work together to deliver good careers guidance. The Education Secretary mentioned the Sutton Trust as an organisation calling on more support for schools.

In the House of Lords debate following the announcement, Lord Storey also mentioned the Sutton Trust report on careers guidance. You can find out what our recommendations were here.

Autumn Statement

In the Autumn Statement, Chancellor George Osborne announced that the Government will consult on plans to introduce student loans for postgraduate students, a policy advocated for by the Sutton Trust. The proposal references research published by the Trust in 2013.

Fair Education Alliance

The Fair Education Alliance has published a ‘report card‘ on fair education in the UK. It references a number of Sutton Trust reports, including Baby Bonds,  Improving the impact of teachers, Chain Effects,  Advancing Ambitions,  Extra-curricular Inequalities  and our  Mobility Manifesto.

The Education Endowment Foundation was mentioned by Lord Nash in response to a written question by Baroness Miller on learning outside the classroom. See what the Sutton Trust/EEF Teaching and Learning Toolkit says on this, here.
