An interview by Lee Elliot Major with Attain magazine on private education was reported by Javier Espinoza in the Daily Telegraph.

Parents are being made feel ashamed about telling friends they send their children to private schools, the chief executive of the Sutton Trust has warned.

Lee Elliot Major says he has even seen parents who feel excluded from the community if they opt for private education for their children.

In his view, their shame is partly due to “lazy stereotypes” where the parents of privately-educated pupils are afraid of being perceived as “aloof”.
