Please note that the closing date for applications is March 14th.
The Sutton Trust Summer Schools at Bristol, Cambridge, Nottingham and Oxford are open to all students in Year 12 at maintained schools or colleges in the UK.
Places are limited. Students will not be accepted on more than one Sutton Trust Summer School. Priority will be given to students:
- whose family background has no history of higher education,
- whose parents are in non-professional occupations,
- who have achieved at least 5 A/A*’s at GCSE,
- who are in receipt of Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA)
- who are taking relevant subjects in relation to the subject stream they applied for.
The Sutton Trust will meet all costs incurred by the students, including
- travel to and from the summer school
- food and accommodation
- all trips and activities
Students need only bring pocket money with them for any personal spending away from home.
St Andrews
The Sutton Trust Summer School at St Andrews is aimed at students in Scotland who have just completed S5/Year 12 and who have the potential to obtain a place at St Andrews, but who might not have considered applying.
Priority will be given to students who:
- will be the first generation in their families to attend university;
- parents/carers in non-professional occupations
- attend schools or colleges that have virtually no history of sending pupils to the university over the last two years;
- attend schools or colleges with a low overall Higher point score;
- have gained 5 Credit Level passes at standard grade;
- are taking relevant subjects for the course to be studied;
- attend schools with a high proportion of free school meals and/or in inner city areas;
- attend schools with a low proportion of the sixth form going on to higher education.
The Sutton Trust will meet all costs incurred by the students, including
- travel to and from the summer school
- food and accommodation
- all trips and activities
Students need only bring pocket money with them for any personal spending away from home.
From 2007 onwards the application form can be filled in online. Before applying make sure you have read the brochure and after applying make sure you ask your teacher to login and fill in their part.
