Sutton Trust research on the educational backgrounds of leading lawyer’s was referenced by Tom Worden in a piece on access to the legal profession in the Evening Standard.

State-educated pupils from London are set to challenge the dominance of the privileged elite working at the top of the legal professions.

A study in November found more than 70% of senior judges and top QCs were privately educated -even though only 7% of the population goes to fee-paying schools.

The study for the Sutton Trust and PRIME, an alliance of 21 law firms, found little change in the educational background of senior lawyers over the past 30 years, despite efforts by the profession to increase diversity.
