The Sunday Times reported in its Money pages on Degrees of Debt

University tuition fees of up to £9,000 a year mean graduates in England face higher debts than their peers in America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, according to the Sutton Trust, a social mobility think tank. The average debt of a graduate in those countries is £15,000-£29,000, compared with £44,000 in England after tuition and living costs, normally paid for by loans, are taken into account. The government says England’s funding system is “fair and sustainable”.
