I haven't got enough/any Sutton Trust Summer School brochures or posters. Where do I get them from? You can find details of the Sutton Trust Summer School scheme 2010 on our website - www.suttontrust.com. If you require hard copies of the scheme brochure or poster, please phone 0115 951 5559 (University of Nottingham Enquiry Centre) or email undergraduateenquiries@nottingham.ac.uk. How am I involved in my students' applications? Every student application to a Sutton Trust Summer School must be verified by a teacher using the online Teachers' Confirmation Form. You are asked to review each application made by your students and confirm that the information submitted by the students is accurate and complete. If a student has studied/is studying non-traditional qualifications (those other than GCSEs/Standard Grades or AS levels/Highers) at pre- or post-16, please provide details of these in the 'Further Details' section of the Teachers' Confirmation Form. For more information on the verification process, please see our Information for Teachers page Is it possible to send you a written reference for my students through the post? No, we do not accept formal references for applicants. Teachers must verify their students' applications using the Teachers' Confirmation Form Please see our Information for Teachers page for further details. My student has personal circumstances that makes them suitable for the Sutton Trust Summer School scheme. How can I inform you of these? Teachers are encouraged to use the 'Further Details' section of the Teachers' Confirmation Form to provide information about a student's personal circumstances that should be taken into account. Examples of relevant factors include:
I teach at an independent school. Why can't my students apply? Can my students who receive bursaries/scholarships/funded places apply? Our programme is designed to support those with the potential to excel but who have had little assistance and limited opportunity. The Sutton Trust Summer School scheme is only open to students in Year 12 (or equivalent) from UK state-funded schools and colleges, with priority given to those from non-privileged backgrounds and from schools working in challenging circumstances. As such, we cannot accept applications from students in private/independent schools, including those who receive scholarships or bursaries. My school struggles to produce students with high GCSE grades. Why are the grades demanded by the Sutton Trust Summer Schools so high? Our summer school universities are amongst the most academically selective in the country. In order to benefit most from what these universities have to offer, the programme is particularly designed for high achieving students with the potential to study at one of these institutions. We do not want to falsely raise the hopes of those who may not be plausible candidates for undergraduate study at one of these universities I don't know my school/college UCAS number or my school password. Where do I get this from? Please contact UCAS's Sutton Trust customer support team on 01242 223714 or suttontrust@ucas.ac.uk. I'm having problems submitting the Teachers' Confirmation Form/ accessing a certain page. What do I do? If you or your students experience any technical difficulties whilst using the application system, please call UCAS's Sutton Trust customer support team on 01242 223714 or email them at suttontrust@ucas.ac.uk. Students have told me that the system says our school is not eligible. What do I do? Only students from UK state-funded schools and colleges are able to apply for the scheme, and therefore if you are from an independent/ private institution your school will be listed as ineligible. If your school or college is not independent/private and is still listed as ineligible (or not listed at all), please contact UCAS's Sutton Trust customer support team on 01242 223714 or at suttontrust@ucas.ac.uk. I work at a new state school or college, and it is not listed on your application system. What do I do? Please contact UCAS's Sutton Trust customer support team on 01242 223714 or at suttontrust@ucas.ac.uk. My school used to be independent, but it is now an Academy and therefore non-fee paying. This has not been updated on your system and is preventing my students from making applications. Who should I contact? Please contact UCAS's Sutton Trust customer support team on 01242 223714 or at suttontrust@ucas.ac.uk. Why haven't I been kept informed on the progress of my students? Unfortunately, due to data protection and logistical issues, we are not in a position to notify teachers of the progress of individual applications or applications from their school or college more generally. Applicants to the Bristol, Nottingham and St Andrews Sutton Trust Summer Schools will be notified of their application status by 30 April 2010. Applicants to the Sutton Trust Summer Schools at Cambridge will receive their decisions by 28 May 2010. Queries regarding individual applications should be directed to the relevant summer school team and not to the Sutton Trust: University of Bristol - 0117 928 8862 or wp-office@bristol.ac.uk |
